Relay had two tours down to Southern California, including residencies at CSUSM, with Karen Schaffman, at feral*art home organized by julie tolentino and PigPen, UC Riverside classes out at JT, and a Relay Salon in Riverside- Char Salon, and performance through Los Angeles' luminous Meg Wolfe, and a Pieter salon and presentation thanks to Jmy James Kidd. Relay also toured up North in collaboration with Joan Hanna / Hanna Barn. and a shared evening with Jessika Kenney and Eyvind Kang ... much gratitude for the connections that support these kinds of connectings and sharing time....
All the collaborations filtered through movement, improvisation. To be honest, at the time it felt like a radical felting, and these days I don't think I would ever be so centering of my own movement, put myself on stage as the coherer like this... seeing the unconscious power of the work and ideas. The piece was in a way an exploration of the extent to which a piece could never be a solo, is collaborative, with so many conversations, walkes, and the process was the piece - these presentations were expansions from the collectivity. Crossings.
The project culminated back north with a performance through SALTA at n/a studio in collaboration with Tessa Wills and the performance in Seattle, all before the culminating performances in the Bay Area.
