Health

Health is a practice and process of being alive, rather than something achieved. Health is a phenomenon that relates to one's capacity to live in the world in a way that is resilient, engaged, connected, conscious, situated, and breathing with the changes of living. The vivid grove offers a mosaic of practices to support one's health, well-being, and then from this a rooted base from which to extend, expand, evolve, and imagine. Each of the forms and views that comprise the grove affect health differently; for instance, from the perspective of Taoist Healing Arts, health would be based on one's relation to self, family, society, and cosmos, and to the flow and movement of lifefore; and from the perspective of Feldenkrais, health might be understood by how one can unify their attention and action, how one handles physical challenges rather than not facing them, that it is completely unique and based on what one's capacities are. My dear late friend and collaborator Neil Marcus said, "Disability is an art," and to me this sums up so much, how life is art and our capacities for living intentionally, creatively, for composing our life is at the center of our relation to health.
