Sumatra Project: Megalithic Millenium, Sharing Time, and Batu Brak

Suprapto Suryodarmo co-organized a mosaic of cultural movement projects in Sumatra for January 2020, taking place right after what became his untimely death in December 2019. Prapto had been forming relationships and collaborations over several years in the Amerta circulation in Sumatra.

Margit was invited to these projects as presenter, performer, facilitator, with an invitation to bring friends from the States, as the project in Tubaba, Sumatra, Megalithic Millenium, was a prefigurative international gathering for futurity. There, margit offered a workshop in New Tunings, and presented at the conference portion on New Landings: Earth Time as a Source for Creation. In collaboration with Diane Butler, Frances Rosario, mara poliak, Alex Gebe, and Rio we continued a Sumatra sharing tour, performed, presented and participated. As Prapto was to offer a movement workshop throughout, Margit offered practices in Amerta for youth arts groups in the small village of Batu Brak, through the leadership of Alex Gebe and local cultural activists. Frances, mara, and Margit presented a performance offering as part of the Lampung Sharing Time, and along with Alex and Rio in Tubaba. There is so much gratitude in the labor and vision that went into the projects, and the messenger arts of Diane and Alex.

Each event was a massive coordination and vision, and the list of names here is only a segment of the people involved in these large-scale gatherings.
