Many of the practices of the vivid grove take place outside. By moving outside, one can connect to the atmosphere, earth and sky, and in the words of Suprapto Suryodarmo, start from ‘breathing in living communication with the breathing of life, itself.’ As many have experienced, being outside gives us more direct access with the life force of the land, and yet, at the same time, it offers a lot of stimulation, so there is a dance between receiving and modulating with place. In practicing movement outside, it seems even more necessary to dedicate to land justice and ethics, to learn about the indigenous peoples and practices on land, and to embark on the lifelong act of reciprocity, to inquire together on rematriation, landback, and indigenous rights.
