Tunings

Tuning, Attunement to place, to others, with the environment and all the rich details of context. Tuning is something to practice. It can come sonically, vibrationally, multi-sensoriallym through movement and stillness. Tunings is a field of practice that emerged from decades of practice in several movements, mainly the Tuning Scores, initiated by Lisa Nelson and Suprapto Suryodarmo's Amerta Movement. Tuning also refers to a human (and animal) capacity to sense and receive the other that is nurtured developmentally, which I have been researching through somatic / psychological perspectives. What gets in the way of our capacity to be present with a large and multivaried field, and more importantly, what are the many ways, throgh multi-sensorial composition, through movement, through receiving and listening, that we can find new pathways to attune? As Prapto often said, "The more we are occupied, the less we can tune." So, .... what is the experience of receptivity without occupation? Tuning is an act of anti-occupation, a way to be on planet earth that invites the possibility for new landings. And it is filled with pleasure, invites measure- living measurement, empathy, novel states of possibility.
