Transmission with mara poliak

The first showing of a cave forms study took place in Riverside, CA (2014). mara joined in! the rest is hxtory.

Over the years, mara and margit have been involved in many collaborations that range from dancing, movement practice, study, co-organizing, trading creative suppport, deep dialogue, conversations, co-learning, choreography, and more. A few years back, the two embarked on a life art project, affectionately called transmission, even though that sounds a bit like a techno event, or rather, an urban belated rave. Transmission revolves in the zone of influence; while their relationship began as "student-teacher," it was always in friendship, and in forms such as Wild Goose qigong, in Art Workouts with Abby Crain, in Tuning, through caving together, they wonder, what and how does it grow from the richness of friendship and creative collaboration? How do lineage and practice play into the growing creative shared study? Together, the two have led projects around the Cave Coast Collective, mutual aid and neighborhood community building (especially during shelter-in-place), ongoing movement practices together and in various constellations (such as with Magic markers, with Frances Rosario as Cave Hags and outdoor movements, in Amerta projects, and so much more). They explore roots, create new forms together. It's ongoing, in process.
